The Insanely Ironic Life of Alex Violet.

Yes, I'm a little crazy. But isn't everyone a little crazy nowadays?

Transformers 2 June 29, 2009

Well, I saw Transformers 2 today.

It was very violent. And loud.

I noticed at the beggining, with all the scenes with the US military and whatnot, it appeared as though the United States government was the only one working with these aliens. It does irritate me that whoever thought up this movie (however violently creative and inventive it was) automatically assumed that only the government in the United States would take on the global responsibility of what would happen if aliens were to come to Earth.

I however, cannot imagine that the US would decide to keep a matter that big a secret to be kept within their own government. Wouldn’t they tell us? Maybe not, but even if they didn’t tell us (the public, I mean) wouldn’t they at least have to let any other country’s government in on this to open up more perspective and possibility of help?

And another thought, if “We Are Not Alone” (quote from the Mediator Series by Meg Cabot) in this vast forever, won’t we eventually need a global government that would represent Earth in universal disputes?
This isn’t just an ‘American’ matter, or even a Global matter. It’s a Universal matter. I mean think about it, maybe in some other galaxies accross the way there’s life on every planet, and they have representatives for each planet and their own little government meetings with each other.

Yet, ANOTHER deep thought, what if there’s life on every planet in another galaxy, but each planet is entirely oblivious of life among its neighbour?

No wonder I got a headache in the middle of that movie! And I thought it was just the sound of all those weapons.

Yes, I’m a little crazy. But isn’t everyone a little crazy nowadays?

On a different note, it is my half-birthday. As of today, I am exacticly (yes, exacticly!) fourteen and one half years old.

Question of the day: Do you believe in aliens?

It is 2 pm. June 23, 2009

Okay, so I read 2 books yesterday, if you notice I updated my list. I’m reading the third Mediator book and I’m on page 106 or so.
Guy(s), it’s occured to me the only entries I’ve actually written so far (aside from the first one or so) are all about books. So I should tell you now that they will not ALL be about books. Like right now, for instance:

Guess what? I’m going out west for August! I won’t tell you where out west, just in case you’re a creeper, but I will tell you I’m v., v. excited about this. I have family out there and will be visiting for a while. I’ve been there twice before, once in the summer, (the first time I went, I was going into either 5th or 6th grade, I don’t remember which) and once in the winter (the winter before last).

Now that that’s out of the way, all I feel I have left to say (OME! Rhyme!) is:

  • Read Mediator & Palace of Mirrors & my Blog
  • I enjoy used-bookstores and old movie theatres. (Random, but true :)
  • And enjoy yourselves, people! It’s a beautiful summer! I checked the temperature where I am about 20 minutes ago and it’s about 29-30 degrees out! (Celcius.)
  • Sincerely,
    A Bookworm. (Alex Violet.)

The Mediator: Shadowland – Meg Cabot June 22, 2009

I have a feeling that this summer will consist mostly of reading.

I read another book for the gist of today so far, it’s the first one in the Mediator series by Meg Cabot. One of the girls who works at the children’s desk in the library reccomended it to me and as soon as I finished Palace of Mirrors I started on this one. And I finished it about a half hour ago. And it ROCKED.

So you can tell I really need to:
    a) Get started on those reviews I promised!
    b) Read the next Mediator book
    c) Find my list of books I’ve read so I can update it. And once I do that, I should copy it out in like, 19 places so I won’t have to worry about loosing it again. I think maybe I should put it on this blog somewhere…

Anyway, I do recommend this book. It’s about a 16-year-old girl who can talk to ghosts and found out she’s moving to a place with some really old buildings (old buildings = more ghosts). And at her school she’s seemingly replaced a popular girl who’s commited suicide over the holiday. And one thing’s for sure, Heather will not make room for anyone.
Compared to Twilight, this book has less romance and more action, and clearly more books in its series. (Notice: I’m not saying it’s better or worse!)

It’s times like these that I figure I should start a book club.

    Palace of Mirrors Continued… June 22, 2009

FINISHED IT! About maybe 20 minutes ago I finished reading Palace of Mirrors and I’ve got to tell you, I LOVED IT. It’s officially my new favourite book!!! It has EVERYTHING- secrets, royalty, letters from beyond the grave, and a kiss.

SPOILERS! READ ON IF YOU DARE!

Okay, so there’s this peasant girl, Cecilia, who’s been raised knowing that she’s the real princess, and that the girl who’s on the throne now (Desmia is her name) is a decoy, there to distract the people who had murdered Cecilia’s parents a little after her birth.
So yeah, and then there’s this guy who’s been best friends with Cecilia like, her whole life (Oh my goodness I almost just typed life like lie) and his name is Harper, and his “mam” (that’s how the author spells mom/mum in the book) named him that because she really wants him to be a Harp-player since they’ll not send musicians off to this war that the country’s going through. (Harper’s father died in the war) BUT Harper really wants to be a soldier.
ANYWAY so Cecilia has this secret crush on this guy, but she never says it straight out. She keeps it secret.

    SPOILERS OVER.

Sorry I have to go now. I’ll explain more of it in the Radical Reviews later. But it’s my FAVOURITE book. Oh, and plus Harper doesn’t know she’s a princess. Yet. Okay, NOW the spoilers are over…

    Bye,
    Sincerely,
    Alex Violet.

Palace of Mirrors by Margaret Peterson Haddix. June 21, 2009

I have not been able to put down this book, “Palace of Mirrors” by Margaret Peterson Haddix. My mom got it for me at the library about a week ago, but I was too busy with exams to get really started on it. But today, I’ve been reading it most of the day, and I’m about 3/4 of the way through. I may not be a speed reader, but that’s alright with me. :)
I’ve been looking for some good summer books to satisfy my boredom. Does anyone have any suggestions? (I’m 14, & have already read Twilight. Before anyone knew what it was, I might add!!!)

Of course I don’t really expect you all to respond! lol. I haven’t got any readers yet!

I have got to really stop trying to write something out of nothing. It’s not very entertaining. C’mon! I want something great to happen!

    Happy Father’s Day, guys. :)

    Sincerely,
    Alex Violet.

My Goals this Summer June 21, 2009

  • Plant a garden.
  • Read 30 books
  • Learn one song on either piano or guitar. (It cannot be something easy, like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star!)
  • Write a book.
  • Write a song
  • Make a masterpeice.
  • Walk to the park at least once a week.
  • Take some good pictures whenever I can.
  • Clean my room? (Note to self: rent either a forklift or a bulldozer. But how will it fit through the door?)
  • If I get around to cleaning my room: re-organize and re-decorate my room.
  •

    Hello world! June 20, 2009

Well, this is my first post… how exciting! But I really don’t know what to say… there’s a lot of pressure to make this first entry good…
I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Alex. I’m a girl. I love movies and acting and writing. I sometimes feel like I live a life of different roles- when I’m in math class I’m the creative one who’s personality is being smothered into almost mute. When I’m with pathfinders (girl guides for an older age group) I’m the whimsical, comedic loud one who doesn’t have many thoughts that are left unsaid.

And writing that last paragraph I was being was more sophisticated with my language than I really am in person. Sometimes I do that unintentionally.

Sorry, I’ll write more later. My brother needs to get on the computer.
