The Insanely Ironic Life of Alex Violet.

Yes, I'm a little crazy. But isn't everyone a little crazy nowadays?

A Glimpse November 15, 2009

This is a video of me (sitting in the lawn chair at the start) and my little brother, Mathew (behind the shed yelling bear noises at the start).
I posted this video on YouTube about July 2008 (the summer before ninth grade, I believe. I was thirteen, Mathew was … nine, I think?).
It was about a year and a half ago, I believe. It feels like it was longer, though.
There’s been a lot that’s happened since then.

I started high school.
I won an art award.
I went through 9 exams.
I went camping at a beautiful provincial park with the student’s council.
I gained like, 10 of some of my best friends in the world at pathfinders.
I got a facebook account.
I got a blog.
I’ve attempted to finish writing several novels.
I got an iPod.
I went ‘out west’ for the third time in my life.
I visited Vancouver for the first time in my life.
I dipped my feet in the Pacific ocean.
I went to my first high school dance.
I went to Niagara Falls on a (geography class) field trip with some really great people and got in trouble with the teachers because we brought too much sugary pop and chips for our own good and all had sugar rushes at midnight.
I had the time of my life in Dinner Theatre.
I discovered a secret passageway in my school’s proproom hidden behind shelves.
I invented the word ‘AWESOMAZING’.
I’ve made a zillion more people laugh.
I joined my city’s youth council.
I met the mayor.
I discovered Twilight a few weeks after the above video was filmed.
I’ve come to terms with myself. (I am not so ashamed of who I am anymore. Because I am awesomazing.)
I spent a night in a haunted hotel.
I contacted a ghost. (One of my BFF’s birthday party. Her place was haunted so we pretended to be like TAPS.)
I sang ‘Tomorrow’ (from Annie) at the top of my lungs in the middle of a forest while cleaning an outhouse.
I sang ‘Tomorrow’ (from Annie) at the top of my lungs in the middle of a forest with some of my very best friends.
I have learned that everything has flaws but that doesn’t mean it isn’t beautiful and perfect by all means.
My kitten turned three years old.
I discovered that I truly would prefer world peace over all the money in the world anyday.
I have done way more than I ever thought I would and today it has occured to me that the past two years of my life have been worth every second, and I wouldn’t change anything at all.
I really truly wouldn’t.

How do they do it? October 10, 2009

This song is by a girl named Valerie: toiltpprprdctns on YouTube. It’s incredibly catchy and a good happy-dance song. :)

WARNING: This is going to be one of those really long and thought-provoking entries that I go off rambling quite a bit in. My English teacher last year said I should learn to centre my thoughts a bit better. So click ‘more’ if you’re really up for reading it all. (more…)

I am BACK. August 28, 2009

I’m back, and it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. We drove through the mountains to see British Columbia.

We went as far as Vancouver and I went up on Grouse Mountain (Grouse- pronounced like Sprouse, as in the Sprouse twins. Not pronounced like Gross.) in a cable car and then even farther up Grouse Mountain in one of those cool ski lifts.

It was amazing, but some people get awfully scared. I mean, I was a little frightened at first because your only restraint is the back of the bench behind you and the loose-ish bar holding you from falling foreward.

But you’d only fall off the thing if you did something incredibly stupid. I read in a magazine that only 3 people a year die on amusement rides. And usually it’s only if they do something stupid. (aka when they say keep your hands and feet inside the ride, they MEAN it. And they mean keep your abdomen inside the ride, too.)

Anyway, my point is after a bit, I got used to the height and the ride so I decided to let go of the bar in front of me. But then my dad got frightened and told my brother and I to hold onto the bar with both hands and not to let go.

The ride was pretty calm and quiet for the most part except when the people in your seat of the ride decide to speak. You could also hear the people at the end of the ride singing karaoke.

It was pretty life-changing.

BC is so naturally beautiful- but it was pretty sad how many trees were being chopped down to make tourist stops and attractions. I mean, the trees and the hills and the mountains should attract people. I agree that it’s a beautiful place to be and I’m guilty of visiting and enjoying tourist attractions, but I mean, shouldn’t there be a limit on it? In Ontario, there are laws about how much land can be commercial, and I think in BC they could really do with that.

Anyway, my little brother (who shall be referred to as either Little Brother or Buddy from here on in) has now allowed me to mention him in my blog. He wants me to now.

Buddy is making a smaller model of the Canadian Pacific railway, and the Last Spike. He is making it with his toy trainset, which I haven’t seen him use in a while. When we were littler we used to play with that trainset together. Which is basically the only thing we could play together nicely, considering that we’re about 4 years apart and it’s not as if we could play Barbie or Bionicle.

SO yeah. I had a good trip, I went to Alberta and British Columbia. I drove through the mountains. I stayed the night in a haunted hotel on the drive to BC. I had the best breakfast in the world at that hotel.

Well, I got my class schedule in the mail the day I got back. (Aug. 25) I’m satisfied with it. One of my friends and I chose all the same electives (singing, art, drama) and I left her an offline MSN message with my schedule and told her to IM me back if we were in the same classes. She sent me an IM back and told me we got the same classes for the ones we chose together. This is great since I get stagefright. ESPECIALLY for singing in front of people. Drama is okay, since I did it last year, PLUS I did a dinner theatre production, and I was good enough that people were rushing over to compliment me after I was done. So that made me less nervous. But that was about my acting. Singing, on the other hand, I have no clue. I did sing once for a talent show, once, and there were a few people complimenting me after. But I think they were complimenting me on being brave. I posted a YouTube video of me singing more than a year ago, and I must admit, it is NOT my best work. And I am not the only one who told me so. There are about 6 un-deleted comments sitting under it. And only one of them is slightly nice. It said to just keep practicing and ignore all the rude comments.
Anyway, I guess my voice is decent. It gets better with practice and if I know the song well. Plus, having it stuck in my head sometimes helps.

Song of the week: Don’t stop beleivin’! – Journey

Sincerely,
Alex Violet.

Great Idea to bust summer boredom! July 16, 2009

Okay, the first part is not nescessarily fun, but the second might be.

I’m planning on re-doing my room. Like painting it and putting up different pictures on the walls (I’m not so into Hannah Montana as I was a few years ago). But FIRST I have to clean it. Which is a LOT more trecherous than most cases. NO EXAGERATION (sp?): My Room Has Piles Of Clutter TALLER THAN ME. No kidding. I am a major packrat.

But the problem is, I live in an apartment. I’m not allowed to acutally paint the walls, the lightswitch cover, the doorknobs, or change that thing that covers the lightbulb (it does NOT look like a lampshade to me), or change the boring beige carpet, or the doorframe, OR the closet doors (which are broken right now, I might add. They’re the kind that slide open & closed and they’ve gone off the track a little.) However I think we’re allowed to nail stuff to the walls, like picture frames and door hooks. (Don’t ask me.)

But WHATEVER. I have got to find compromise after living my life in the smallest room ever, buried in clutter. SOMEHOW I will make it work.

Any ideas?

These are mine [I want it to look]:

  • Similar to an art studio (I have an easel I got so many years ago that I really want to be able to set up, plus I have a whole bunch of craft stuff and art stuff I need to organize)
  • Calm, elegant (but not overwhelming!), vintage, earthy, princess-like… (but not kiddie! I’m 14!) I like Claire’s room in Aquamarine)
  • I want to asociate (sp?) the colour pale green with possibly little flowery pink (or even purple) accents here and there.
  • ORGANIZED!
  • But I can’t afford anything extra. Plus I don’t have room for new furniture. So looks like I’m going to be all reuse/reduce/recycle, and DIY and all that jazz.
  • Has this journal entry confused you? It has me…

But anyway, the point is, if anyone (anyone at all! I know I have no readers, but whatever) at all knows any DIY websites and sources of inspiration for stuff like that for re-doing my room, leave a comment! Don’t be shy!

This is an era of creativity! Be bold!

    New great idea: tie-dye!! :D
    The possibilities are endless…

    Sincerely and creatively,
    Alex Violet.

My Goals this Summer June 21, 2009

  • Plant a garden.
  • Read 30 books
  • Learn one song on either piano or guitar. (It cannot be something easy, like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star!)
  • Write a book.
  • Write a song
  • Make a masterpeice.
  • Walk to the park at least once a week.
  • Take some good pictures whenever I can.
  • Clean my room? (Note to self: rent either a forklift or a bulldozer. But how will it fit through the door?)
  • If I get around to cleaning my room: re-organize and re-decorate my room.
  •
